Eagles' Michael Bennett to surrender to police Monday on injury to the elderly charge

Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Michael Bennett will turn himself in to authorities Monday afternoon to face an assault charge that stemmed from an altercation in February 2017 at Super Bowl LI, Bennett's lawyer told Paste BN Sports. Bennett allegedly assaulted a 66-year-old paraplegic security staff worker.
He will surrender at 1 p.m. CT at the Harris County District Court in Houston, Rusty Hardin, Bennett's attorney, said in a text message.
Hardin previously told Paste BN Sports that Bennett was out of the country when the Harris County District Attorney announced Bennett's indictment on a single felony charge of injury to the elderly on Friday.
He faces up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Bennett, who was at Super Bowl LI in Houston to watch his brother (tight end Martellus Bennett) play for the New England Patriots, allegedly shoved a female security staffer who had asked him to use a different entrance for field access, according to a news release issued by prosecutors.
Bennett, 32, has been selected to three Pro Bowls in his nine-year NFL career, which included stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and, most recently, Seattle Seahawks. Bennett was traded from the Seahawks to Philadelphia earlier this month.
