No longer is a traditional visit to the White House a certainty for sports teams who've just won a championship.

With President Trump occupying the Oval Office, the process has become more of a political than a celebratory one.

In February, the Golden State Warriors declined an invitation -- or were uninvited -- depending on the source.

Now the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles are considering their options, according to NFL.com.

Rapoport tweeted a quote from the Eagles on Monday saying they view the invitation "not only as an opportunity to be recognized for our achievements, but also as an opportunity to engage in productive dialogue with the leaders of our country."

Some Eagles players have been outspokenly critical of President Trump.

In the current issue of The Atlantic, safety Malcolm Jenkins called Trump a "troll" for his suggestion last fall that NFL owners should fire players who protest during the national anthem.
