The Philadelphia Eagles might have to wait at least another week on Carson Wentz's comeback.

The team plans to start backup Nick Foles at quarterback in Thursday's regular-season opener against the Atlanta Falcons, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Wentz has continued to work his way back after suffering torn anterior cruciate and lateral collateral ligaments in his left knee, but he has yet to be cleared for full contact.

Foles took over for Wentz last December and famously led the Eagles to the franchise's first Super Bowl win, earning MVP honors in the victory over the New England Patriots.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson said on Tuesday he expected to know by last Friday what the team's plans at quarterback would be, but added that he might not reveal them until just before kickoff.
