Philadelphia Eagles offensive guard Brandon Brooks suffers torn Achilles
The Philadelphia Eagles' offense has been dealt a significant hit before the team even took the field in the offseason.
Offensive guard Brandon Brooks confirmed Monday that he had suffered a torn left Achilles tendon, an injury expected to rule him out for the 2020 NFL season.
"So I guess now that news is out yes I tore my other Achilles but when life gives you lemons you make lemonade," Brooks wrote on Twitter. "I’ll be back and better than ever. Appreciate the love"
Brooks, 30, has been a Pro Bowl selection for each of the last three seasons. Along with right tackle Lane Johnson and center Jason Kelce, he was expected to be an anchor for the offensive line as the unit looked poised to work in a new starting left tackle in Andre Dillard, who is slated to take over for longtime starter Jason Peters.
Brooks previously tore his right Achilles tendon in a divisional-round playoff game in the 2018 season, but he did not miss a game last year upon his return.
The Eagles worked to retool their 14th-ranked offense this offseason, overhauling their receiving corps by using three picks on pass catchers and trading for former San Francisco 49ers receiver Marquise Goodwin.
