Eagles center Jason Kelce surprises neighborhood McDonald's employee with signed jersey

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce surprised his favorite McDonald's employee when he picked up breakfast on Wednesday morning.

Kelce brought Danielle Bonham, a McDonald's employee in Broomall, Pa., a signed jersey Wednesday morning.

According to FOX29 Philadelphia, Bonham has served him several times, and a photo of their first interaction accumulated tens of thousands of Facebook reactions. The two of them formed a bond over the course of several drive-thru interactions, and the center signed a Kelly Green Eagles jersey as a token of his appreciation for her service.

The news comes just days after rumors began about Kelce's potential retirement following the Eagles' wild-card round loss to the Buccaneers in the playoffs.

Jason Kelce's community impact goes beyond jersey signing

Kelce's generous gift Wednesday morning was just the latest example of his notable contributions to his community.

"He’s got his footprint all over this town. The flower shop over here, the Wawa, the Kettle down on the boulevard, I mean he’s all over St. Dennis fair with his kids," Havertown, Pa. local business owner Carl Henderson told FOX29. "I’ve seen a lot of athletes come and go, but Jason’s a special dude."

"He’ll open doors for older people, he’ll approach the kids and offer an autograph, he doesn’t hold back, he’s the kind of person you would hope for in terms of a customer," said the another local business owner.

In December 2022, Kelce, along with Eagles teammates Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata, released a Christmas album called "A Philly Special Christmas." The group donated all proceeds – more than $250,000 – to the Children's Crisis Treatment Center in Philadelphia.

Jason Kelce retirement rumors

On Tuesday morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Kelce told his Eagles teammates that he planned to retire after the playoff loss.

The seven-time Pro Bowl center had considered retiring before the 2022 season, a decision that he showed in the "Kelce" documentary that released on Amazon Prime in September. Though he once again considered retirement ahead of the 2023 season, he re-signed on a one-year deal with the Eagles in March.

On the latest episode of Kelce's "New Heights" podcast with his brother, Travis, he said that he "didn't announce what I was doing on purpose... There's too much emotion in the moment."

If the 36-year-old center does call it a career, he'll do so as a 13-year NFL veteran with seven Pro Bowl nods and six first-team All-Pro honors.
