ATLANTA — Arthur Blank figured it was a good time to declare an expectation last spring after Atlanta won the bid to host Super Bowl in 2019.

So the Atlanta Falcons owner decided to text-message his coach, Dan Quinn.

Blank told his second-year coach that with Atlanta to host the Super Bowl, he wanted his team playing in the game at the soon-to-open Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

“I remember him texting me back saying, ‘I plan on getting there sooner,’ “ Blank told Paste BN Sports after the convincing win against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday propelled the Falcons into Super Bowl LI.

“So he actually did have a better plan than I was even hopeful for,” Blank added.

And now the Falcons have a chance to open their new stadium next season as Super Bowl champs.
