Kyle Pitts injury: Falcons TE sitting out of OTAs with foot issue

Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts' future in Atlanta has gotten murky as trade speculation heated up in recent days. But rather than wondering where he'll play in 2025, a more immediate question to answer is when he'll next be available to practice.
Pitts is currently dealing with a strained muscle in his foot, according to ESPN, which has kept him out of the Falcons' organized team activities (OTAs) so far.
Falcons head coach Raheem Morris initially announced that Pitts had an injury on Monday, June 2, though he did not add any clarity on the exact nature of the injury before ESPN's report on Tuesday.
"Extremely cautious with Kyle right now and what he's got going on," Morris said. "Obviously, don't talk about injuries this time of year, but definitely being cautious with him, so you won't see him. He's been here, he's done such a great job. … He's been in every single thing that we've done other than the field, and he's been absolutely outstanding to be around."
Pitts has had a foot injury in the past.
In 2020, while the eventual first-round pick was still at Florida, he suffered a left foot injury in a game against Texas A&M. Since it was right before the team's bye week, Pitts did not miss any time.
He's also suffered a couple of other injuries since becoming a pro. In 2022, his second season with the Falcons, Pitts missed the back half of the year after taking a hit to the knee and tearing his MCL. He had also missed multiple games earlier that year with a hamstring injury.
Pitts played in every game – and started in all but two of them – for the Falcons in three of his first four seasons (the injury-shortened 2022 being the only exception). Time will tell how serious his current foot issue is, but there is still plenty of time before training camp and preseason action.
