The Jacksonville Jaguars extended head coach Gus Bradley’s contract through the 2017 season, the team announced Friday.

Bradley signed a four-year contract in January 2013 when the Jaguars lured him from the Seattle Seahawks, where he was the defensive coordinator. The one-year extension will give Jacksonville some stability heading into what general manager Dave Caldwell said in a release is “a pivotal season with high expectations at every level of the organization.”

“For an organization that we believe is ready to make its move, extending Gus through the 2017 season provides our club with much-needed stability in every respect,” Caldwell said in the statement. “It solidifies Gus’ good standing with our current players, provides certainty for free agents who may be considering the Jaguars and helps to deliver the continuity throughout our coaching staff that we think is critical for us to turn the corner.”

Bradley has a 12-36 record in his three years with the Jaguars, but the team's five wins in 2015 were the most of his tenure.

Team owner Shad Khan announced before the team's season finale that he would be bringing Bradley back for a fourth season.
