Jaguars rookie defensive back Jalen Ramsey says back judge should be fired

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie defensive back Jalen Ramsey said a member of Ed Hochuli’s officiating crew should be fired after Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans.

Ramsey took issue with a pass interference call he was flagged for as he flanked Houston’s wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins in the fourth quarter as the Texans mounted a 21-20 comeback victory. The problem with the accusation: the field judge and Hopkins aren’t related.

"Specifically, I want to call out, I don't know his name, I don't really care for it, field judge No. 104, by far the worst official in the NFL,” Ramsey told the Houston Chronicle. “He needs to be fired 100 percent, terrible, terrible, terrible.

No. 104 is Dale Shaw, who is in his fourth season as an NFL official.

"(Shaw) may be a kin to Hopkins or something, I don't know," Ramsey told the newspaper. "He's just a homer, I feel like the whole officiating crew they were homers.”

Hopkins told the newspaper that he’s no relation to Shaw.

"I understand he's a young guy, he's frustrated his team lost," Hopkins said. "But it's the game of football. I definitely don't have any family members that are referees."

The Jags fired head coach Gus Bradley after the game.  Ramsey’s comments will likely lead to a fine of up to $25,000
