Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence returns to game after exiting with ankle injury

Trevor Lawrence's absence on Sunday was brief.

The Jacksonville Jaguars rookie quarterback returned to action in the second quarter against the Buffalo Bills after exiting for a brief period due to an ankle injury.

Lawrence, who was initially ruled questionable to return, appeared to be injured when rookie left tackle Walker Little stepped on the quarterback's right ankle after a pass attempt.

Jaguars coaches helped Lawrence off the field and to the locker room. CJ Beathard replaced him at quarterback.

Lawence, however, returned to the lineup just before halftime.

Lawrence, the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL draft out of Clemson, completed 10 of 14 passes for 76 yards before leaving the game. The rookie has had a trying season and entered Sunday tied for second in the NFL with nine interceptions.
