The New York Jets placed wide receiver Eric Decker on injured reserve, the team announced on Wednesday.

Decker was diagnosed with a partially torn rotator cuff after he re-aggravated a shoulder injury in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sept. 25. He had missed Jets’ prior two contests.

Decker initially injured his shoulder in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills, where he netted 126 yards and a touchdown.

The Jets are allowed to activate one player from the IR per season, although Decker must sit out at least eight games.

Decker, who was signed ahead of the 2014 season, and Brandon Marshall have been quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick’s top downfield options. Decker compiled 1,027 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns last season.
