The New York Jets have received some tough injury news.
Starting linebacker Avery Williamson has suffered a torn ACL and is out for the season, according to multiple reports.
The Jets had announced that Williamson was injured following Thursday night's preseason victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
Williamson played well into the second quarter with some of the backups and head coach Adam Gase had said the plan was for Williamson to play increased reps all along.
Williamson had an MRI today, which revealed the extent of the injury.
Williamson, 27, had 120 tackles last year and was expected to team with free-agent signing C.J. Mosley on the inside.
