New York Jets QBs Joe Flacco and Mike White land on COVID list, out Sunday at Texans

New York Jets backup quarterbacks Mike White and Joe Flacco landed on the reserve/COVID list Tuesday afternoon. Both will miss Sunday's game against the Houston Texans.
Veteran Josh Johnson will be the backup for quarterback Zach Wilson, who is returning from injury, a person with knowledge of the situation told NorthJersey.com, which is part of the Paste BN Network. The person requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the Jets' quarterback situation publicly.
According to ESPN, White tested positive for COVID, and Flacco was placed on the list as a close contact. Flacco said last week that he is not vaccinated, which means he must quarantine for 10 days after being deemed a close contact. Vaccinated players are not required to quarantine after a close contact.
The COVID situation in the quarterback room had no bearing on the Jets' decision to name Wilson the starter, he was cleared to play on Monday night.
Wilson is returning after missing four games with a right knee PCL sprain. Johnson played the final three-plus quarters of the loss to the Texans, filling in for the injured White, and threw for more than 300 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
White became the biggest sports story in New York as Wilson's backup, when he threw for more than 400 yards in a shocking Oct. 31 win over the Bengals, but he was benched last week in favor of Flacco after throwing four interceptions in the loss to the Bills.
The Jets traded for Flacco the day after Wilson was injured, acquiring the veteran from the Eagles. Flacco, who was also the backup for the Jets last year, wasn't able to report to the team for five days after the trade because of COVID protocols.
