PFF is the No. 1 fan of New York Jets CB Sauce Gardner
New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner has a huge fan in Pro Football Focus despite the down year his team's defense had in 2024.
The football analytics outlet named their top-32 ranked cornerbacks in football heading into the 2025 season. Regardless of recent past, Gardner was placed at the top of the list at No. 1 overall.
Gardner appeared in 15 games played last season, only recording one interception and nine passes defended. However, the leaky defense around him in New York allowed opponents to attack elsewhere which led to plenty of successes.
Because of the team effort around him, Gardner failed to be named a first-team All-Pro for the first time in his three-year career. But he still kept his top PFF spot for the second-straight offseason.
PFF's breakdown on Gardner can be found below:
Gardner’s 91.9 PFF coverage grade since 2022 leads the league. He has forced a league-high 46 incompletions and allowed a league-low 0.60 yards per cover snap and 21.4% first-down-plus-touchdown rate over that span.
Unsurprisingly, Gardner's PFF advanced coverage grade ranks first, as well. While he might not shadow opposing wide receivers at a high rate, he has excelled when asked to do so.
