Mother of Titus Young's child gets permanent restraining order
A California judge granted a request for a permanent restraining order against former Lions receiver Titus Young today.
Young did not appear at the hearing at Riverside Superior Court, but a court clerk said an order requiring Young to stay at least 100 yards away from the mother of his son, Titus Jr., will be in place for the next three years.
Young does not have an attorney listed in Riverside Court documents, and the attorney in his pending criminal case in Orange County, Calif., did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
Marjani Maldonado, who went to Boise State with Young, made a request for a domestic violence restraining order last month after Young was arrested on suspicion of DUI and attempted burglary.
In the request, Maldonado, who did not return a phone call seeking comment Wednesday, said Young exhibited menacing behavior toward her and once referenced O.J. Simpson in a threat.
A temporary restraining order had been in place until Wednesday.
Young faces up to 10 years in prison on 11 charges in Orange County after he allegedly broke into a house, stole a candy bar, water and cigars from a convenience store and assaulted police officers.
He faces another six months in jail in Riverside County on trespassing charges.
