Darius Slay is ready to move on from the Detroit Lions

Like, really ready.

Slay tweeted congratulations to Desmond Trufant after the former Atlanta Falcons cornerback signed with the Lions late Wednesday, then added a zinger

"Hope that speeds up my trade process!!"

Slay doubled down on his tweet a few minutes later in a reply to Johnthan Banks, his former All-American teammate in Mississippi State's secondary:

"@_bigplayslay23 you ready to go like right now huh?" Banks wrote.

"Facts!!" Slay replied.

Slay, 29, was a second-round draft pick out of Mississippi State in 2013. He has been the subject of trade rumors since October, but Lions general manager Bob Quinn and coach Matt Patricia said at the NFL scouting combine in February they were in no rush to deal the three-time Pro Bowler.

Slay has one year left on the contract extension he signed in 2016. He has indicated he wants a new deal that will make him among the highest-paid cornerbacks in the NFL.
