Marcus Davenport is sticking around in Motown for one more year.

The former first-round pick and the Detroit Lions agreed to terms on a one-year, $4.75 million deal, according to reports. Rather than hit free agency for a second consecutive offseason, Davenport will stay with the team that took him off the market last year.

After one year with the Minnesota Vikings, the UTSA product signed a one-year, $6.5 million contract with the Lions last offseason. He missed all but two games in 2024.

Davenport was out in Week 2 with a groin injury before sustaining a season-ending triceps injury in Week 3. He was one of 16 players the Lions had on injured reserve by January, many of whom were defenders.

Davenport finished the 2024 season with two tackles, 0.5 sacks and four quarterback hits in his two games.

He'll get back to work opposite star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson in Detroit's defense. Should he remain healthy this year, he could be a key piece for new defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard.

Sheppard will hope to keep the Lions among the top NFL defenses in 2025 after former defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn took the New York Jets head coaching job. Detroit was the NFL's seventh-best scoring defense under Glenn last year, which helped boost the Lions to a franchise-best 15-2 record.

The Lions locked up the No. 1 seed in the NFC last year but lost to the Washington Commanders in the divisional round. They currently hold the No. 28 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
