Week 1 of the NFL season was a massive success for everyone involved, except the Carolina Panthers of course. It also gave fans a glimpse at how competitive their teams could be in the 2024-25 season. Obviously, one week isn't enough to determine a team's Super Bowl chances. That said, an unexpected poor or strong performance can change oddsmakers' perspectives drastically on a week-to-week basis.

Teams like the Cincinnati Bengals, who suffered a tough loss to the New England Patriots, or the Los Angeles Chargers, who looked dominant in their win over the Las Vegas Raiders saw their odds take a sizable shift between Weeks 1 and 2.

Here is every team's Super Bowl odds as Week 2 of the NFL season gets underway.

The favorites:

  • Kansas City Chiefs (+500 → +450)
  • San Francisco 49ers (+600 → +550)
  • Detroit Lions (+1200 → +1000)
  • Philadelphia Eagles (+1200 → +1100)
  • Baltimore Ravens (+1000 → +1200)
  • Dallas Cowboys (+2000 → +1400)
  • Houston Texans (+1600 → +1400)
  • Buffalo Bills (+1600)

After losing a one-possession game on the road to the defending Super Bowl champs, the Baltimore Ravens fell from the third-best odds to the fifth? That seems a little steep. They're coming off extra rest having played on Thursday Night Football a week ago. They should be in great shape moving forward.

The dark horses:

  • New York Jets (+2000)
  • Miami Dolphins (+2500 → +2000)
  • Cincinnati Bengals (+1300 → +2000)
  • Green Bay Packers (+1600 → +3000)
  • Chicago Bears (+3500)
  • Atlanta Falcons (+3000 → +3500)
  • Los Angeles Rams (+3000 → +3500)
  • Los Angeles Chargers (+4000)

Last year, the Green Bay Packers started the season 3-6 before winning six of their last eight games to reach the postseason. While Jordan Love may be hurt, he wasn't put on IR, and head coach Matt LaFleur is refusing to rule Love out for Sunday's game against Indianapolis. Even if Malik Willis starts Week 2, there's a good chance Love returns in Week 3 and the Packers can start kicking rear and taking names again. Even if Willis starts Week 3, the Packers still wouldn't be in a terrible position.

The underdogs:

  • Jacksonville Jaguars (+5000)
  • Pittsburgh Steelers (+5000)
  • Cleveland Browns (+4000 → +5000)
  • Seattle Seahawks (+6600)
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+8000 → +6600)
  • Minnesota Vikings (+10000 → +6600)
  • Indianapolis Colts (+8000)
  • New Orleans Saints (+10000 → +8000)
  • Arizona Cardinals (+12500 → +10000)

Do people just not watch the Indianapolis Colts? They are a good team that just took the Houston Texans, one of the NFL's darling Super Bowl contenders, to their limit. Yet, for some reason, they have worse odds than the Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks. That does not make any gosh darn sense.

The longshots:

  • Las Vegas Raiders (+15000)
  • Tennessee Titans (+15000 → +20000)
  • Washington Commanders (+15000 → +20000)
  • Denver Broncos (+15000 → +25000)
  • New York Giants (+20000 → +25000)
  • New England Patriots (+30000)
  • Carolina Panthers (+25000 → +50000)

Let's make one thing perfectly clear. Placing a Super Bowl bet on any of these teams this season may as well be a plea for help. You're better off investing in Circuit City. That said, if you had to put money on one of these teams, why not the team that actually has a win?

The New England Patriots might have the second-worst odds in the NFL still, but they did manage to take down the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1. Sure, the Bengals are notoriously a very slow team to open the season, but that doesn't mean the Bengals weren't expected to win. The Patriots' defense was stifling, and limited both Joe Burrow's and Ja'Marr Chase's impacts on the game. While Jacoby Brissett may not seem like a playoff-caliber quarterback, New England's defense could very well be one of the better units in the NFL when all is said and done, and that could be enough to help the Patriots sneak into the postseason.
