GREEN BAY – Almost 11 hours before the Green Bay Packers were scheduled to kick off against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night at Lambeau Field, star wide receiver Davante Adams told the world via Twitter that he would not be playing:

“Sorry fans and friends I wont be on the field tonight. I’ve done everything I need to do and proved Im ready but I guess I don’t know my body as well as others. Good luck out there my boys”

Adams deleted the tweet about 35 minutes later.

Adams pulled a hamstring against Detroit on Sept. 20 and did not finish the game out of what the team called an abundance of caution, which Adams said was the right decision. Listed as doubtful last week before the game in New Orleans, Adams tested it pregame before ultimately sitting out.

“It was close,” he said of that workout. “I felt good, but I wanted to be as smart as possible so we decided to hold off on that.”

As he began practicing this week, Adams did say he would not go unless he felt he was 100%.

“Yes. Correct,” he said Wednesday. “I will be making sure I feel normal – like before it happened – before I step out there.”

Clearly on Monday morning Adams felt he had reached that level but the team apparently disagreed.

But, inactive players do not have to be announced until 90 minutes before kickoff.

The Packers are already without Allen Lazard (on injured reserve after core-muscle surgery) so if Adams does not play, they will have Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Malik Taylor and Darrius Shepherd listed as receivers on the active roster. They can pull up two practice squad players to play against the Falcons.

Meanwhile, the Falcons expect to have both of their star receivers available, according to multiple reports.
