Report: Steven Jackson signs contract with New England Patriots

Veteran running back Steven Jackson signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots on Monday, according to multiple media reports.

Jackson's signing helps the Patriots fill a hole left when LeGarrette Blount was placed on injured reserve last week with a hip injury. The Patriots also lost running back Dion Lewis to an ACL injury in November.

The Patriots (12-2) are in first place in the AFC East and face the New York Jets this weekend with a chance to secure home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.
