FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – You put your body on the line when you step on a football field. For quarterbacks, the goal is typically avoiding collisions with defenders.

During Saturday's 24-17 win against the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady aimed to be the one to bring the pain.

At 9:39 of the second quarter, the Patriots ran a reverse where Rex Burkhead was handed off the ball and then flipped it to N’Keal Harry. The rookie receiver swept through the backfield and made his way up the left side of the football field.

In this moment, Brady decided he wasn’t going to be a mere spectator and spring out in front of Harry and delivered a block to Pro Bowl cornerback Tre’Davious White. Brady hit White in the legs, knocking the defender back and Harry gained 18 yards on the play.

“I’m pretty poor at just about everything other than throwing the ball. So, I was trying to just get in his way,” Brady said. “But, it was a good, hard run by N’Keal and it was a good play in the game.”

The play led to a pretty good highlight and helped the Patriots get into field position for a 36-yard field goal. Brady’s teammates were also impressed with the play.

“I mean, we get one a year. One of those crazy blocks a year,” said Julian Edelman. “The man’s 42. It’s nuts.”

Added Harry, “Great. Great. That’s a true quarterback there.”
