The Oakland Raiders might be without Derek Carr once again.

Coach Jack Del Rio said Monday that the quarterback suffered a transverse process fracture in his back, which he noted typically carries a recovery time of two to six weeks.

"It could be as short as two weeks — it could be longer," Del Rio said. "When he can come back, he'll come back."

Del Rio did not rule Carr out for Week 5's game against the Baltimore Ravens but said there was a "real good chance" he would be out.

Carr left the Raiders' 16-10 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday and was replaced by EJ Manuel. Del Rio initially said that the quarterback had suffered from back spasms and that he did not expect the ailment to be a long-term problem.

Carr also suffered a broken fibula in Week 16 of last season and missed the regular-season finale, as well as a wild-card loss to the Houston Texans.

A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Carr threw for 3,937 yards and 28 touchdowns last season in leading the Raiders to their first winning season and playoff berth since 2002.
