Raiders trade former first-round CB Gareon Conley to Texans

Ahead of their matchup against one another on Sunday, the Oakland Raiders and Houston Texans swung a deal.
The Raiders agreed Monday to send cornerback Gareon Conley to the Texans in exchange for a third-round draft pick, coach Jon Gruden confirmed.
Conley, a first-round pick out of Ohio State in 2017, was in his second season as a starter for Oakland and had recorded 16 tackles and an interception. Second-round rookie Trayvon Mullen is expected to take on a starting role after the move.
Houston's 29th-ranked pass defense was in need of reinforcements after allowing Jacoby Brissett to set career highs with 326 yards and four touchdowns in the Indianapolis Colts' 30-23 win over the Texans on Sunday. Starting cornerbacks Johnathan Joseph and Bradley Roby have both missed time while dealing with hamstring injurie
The Texans had an additional third-round pick after trading pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney to the Seattle Seahawks before the season, but Houston had already given up its 2020 first-round selection for left tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Kenny Stills as well as another conditional third-round selection for running back Duke Johnson.
The NFL's trade deadline is on Oct. 29.
