Rams sign Nick Foles to two-year contract extension

The St. Louis Rams' shake-up at quarterback is now more than a one-season commitment.

Nick Foles agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Rams on Friday, the team announced on Twitter. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Yeah, I think if I was him I'd have a lot of peace of mind right now," Rams coach Jeff Fisher told reporters after announcing the deal. "But you also know it's his baby now, this is his team, so we've got to go win games."

The Rams acquired Foles in an offseason trade with the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for Sam Bradford. Foles, who previously was only under contract through 2015, was a Pro Bowl selection in 2013 and started eight games last season before breaking his collarbone.

St. Louis previously struggled to find a consistent passing game with the injury-prone Bradford. The Rams never ranked above No. 23 in the league in total offense since drafting Bradford No. 1 overall in the 2009 NFL draft.

"When you are a quarterback, you are one of the guys that everyone is going to look to automatically," Foles said. "But there's many leaders on this team that do a great job.

"That's how you build a culture of a winning franchise. So I can't do it alone."
