Clay Matthews was called for roughing the passer penalty at crucial moment in Rams loss

Green Bay Packers fans know what Los Angeles Rams fans are going through. Linebacker Clay Matthews got flagged for a roughing the passer penalty in the fourth quarter of the Rams’ 30-29 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night.
Matthews made contact with Russell Wilson after the Seahawks quarterback had released the ball on an incomplete pass on a first-and-10. Officials seemed to think that Matthews led with his helmet and made contact with Wilson’s head. Matthews appealed to the officials in hopes they’d see that he was hitting Wilson with his shoulder. But the flag pushed the Seahawks 15 yards downfield on a drive that ended with the game-winning touchdown.
Matthews was infamously flagged for a similarly questionable call in September 2018 when his penalty helped the Minnesota Vikings retain the ball on what would have been a game-winning interception. The Vikings won that game. Matthews and then-Packers coach Mike McCarthy were furious at the time. That game ended in a 29-29 tie.
