Report: Ray Rice files grievance against Ravens

As has been widely expected, Ray Rice has filed a grievance against the Baltimore Ravens for the team's decision to cut him following the release of a video showing Rice hitting his then-fiancée in an elevator, Pro Football Talkreports.

The grievance against the Ravens was filed several weeks ago, ESPN reports.

Rice was indefinitely suspended by the NFL on Sept. 8, the same day TMZ.com released the video and the Ravens cut ties with him. The NFL Players Association has filed an appeal against the league on Rice's behalf, with a hearing scheduled for Nov. 5-6.

The NFL originally suspended Rice for two games for the incident.

Rice intends to argue the collective bargaining agreement bars him from being punished twice from the same infraction, and that he should be paid the $3.52 million the Ravens would have owed him had he played this season, Pro Football Talk reports.
