The Baltimore Ravens have signed cornerback Jaire Alexander to a contract just one day after Lamar Jackson asked Baltimore Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta to "go get him."

The team announced the deal was official on Wednesday, sharing a photo of Alexander signing his new contract on the social media site X.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported later that Alexander's deal is for one year and worth up to $6 million – the base deal is worth $4 million and the contract includes $2 million in incentives. Schefter also reported that the cornerback turned down more money elsewhere to reunite with Jackson, his former college teammate at Louisville.

Alexander, 28, played seven seasons for the Green Bay Packers since the team drafted him in the first round in the 2018 NFL Draft. On June 9, the Packers released the two-time Pro Bowler after months of uncertainty.

Green Bay had hoped to find a trade partner ahead of (or during) this year's draft. When the team couldn't get a deal done, the Packers reportedly asked Alexander to take a pay cut, which he refused.

After just over a week on the free agent market, Alexander has already signed with a new team.

The former Packer has played in just 14 games over the last two seasons thanks to injuries to his knee, shoulder, back and groin. Alexander finished the 2024 season with 16 tackles, seven passes defensed, and two interceptions – one of which he returned for a touchdown – in seven games.
