Kirk Cousins accepts Redskins' franchise tender
Kirk Cousins has accepted the Washington Redskins' franchise tender, his agent Mike McCartney wrote Wednesday on Twitter.
The quarterback's move comes one day after the Redskins placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on him. Upon signing the tender, Cousins will be set for a one-year salary of $19.953 million in 2016, putting him among the 10 highest-paid players in the NFL based on per-year average in new money.
Cousins, 27, threw for 4,166 yards with 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last season, his first as a full-time starter. His 69.8% completion percentage led the NFL among eligible passers.
