Redskins hire Rob Ryan as inside linebackers coach
Rob Ryan is back in the NFL.
The Washington Redskins announced Wednesday that they've hired the longtime defensive coordinator to coach their inside linebackers, replacing Kirk Olivadotti, who is now with the Green Bay Packers.
Ryan, the brother of former New York Jets and Buffalo Bills coach Rex, had been out of the league since 2016.
The 56-year-old Ryan won two Super Bowls as the linebackers coach in New England before working as a defensive coordinator for four teams over a 12-year span, including the Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints.
Ryan was fired by the Saints late in the 2015 season, then dismissed from his job with the Bills, where he was an assistant head coach to his brother, a little more than a year later.
