Saints WR Michael Thomas breaks NFL single-season reception record
The New Orleans Saints' stars keep setting records.
Six days after quarterback Drew Brees overtook Peyton Manning for the most career passing touchdowns of all time, wide receiver Michael Thomas set the NFL mark for single-season receptions.
Thomas set the record, previously established at 143 by Hall of Famer and former Indianapolis Colts great Marvin Harrison in 2002, on Sunday in a 38-28 win over the Tennessee Titans with his 11 catch of the contest, which came on a 13-yard pass from Brees in the fourth quarter. He hauled in a 2-yard touchdown catch two players later.
Thomas finished the game with 12 catches, giving him 145 for the year, for 136 yards and one touchdown.
Earlier in 2019, the fourth-year receiver became the first player in NFL history with at least 90 catches in each of the first four years of his career.
In 2018, Thomas set a Saints franchise record with 125 catches.
Thomas will have the chance to extend his record next Sunday when the Saints close out their season against the Carolina Panthers.
