Doug Baldwin invited to talk police violence with Washington attorney general

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin drew the interest of one significant politician with his comments Thursday about the need to address the training policies of police officers in the wake of shootings in Tulsa and Charlotte.

Washington attorney general Bob Ferguson reached out to Baldwin through Twitter with an invitation to talk about his concerns.

Baldwin responded with a quick acceptance.

The son of a police officer in Pensacola, Fla., Baldwin wants the publicity from NFL protests during the national anthem started by 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick to be the catalyst for bringing change to the situation.

“The situation that’s upon us right now, what’s going on in our country, it’s devastating, but now it has to reach a point of intolerable. We cannot tolerate this,” Baldwin said. “Lives are being lost and there are questions that need to be answered and people deserve an answer and I think that’s where we’re at right now.”
