SEATTLE – Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas suffered a broken left leg in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

Thomas was injured when he collided with teammate Kam Chancellor while nearly intercepting a pass off Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.

Before the end of the first half, a cryptic tweet referencing the injury was posted to Thomas' verified Twitter account.

Thomas had returned to the Seahawks’ starting lineup Sunday night after missing last week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a hamstring injury. That was the first missed start of his career, breaking a streak of 106 consecutive starts.
