Seattle Seahawks rookie receiver DK Metcalf scheduled for minor knee surgery
Following Sunday night's preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll confirmed during his postgame press conference that rookie wide receiver DK Metcalf was scheduled to undergo minor knee surgery on Tuesday.
While he didn't specify the nature of the procedure, Carroll seemed confident Metcalf could return by the start of the regular season.
"Disappointed for him, because he is off to a fantastic start," Carroll said. "But I don't think this is going to derail him for long. But he does have to get some work done."
General manager John Schneider announced shortly before kickoff Sunday that Metcalf would not participate in the team's second preseason game.
"He's got a sore leg," Schneider said on the Seahawks radio broadcast. "We're going to check that out and be cautious with him, and play it day-by-day and see how it goes."

Seattle selected the stand-out receiver with the final pick of the second round of April's NFL draft. With Doug Baldwin's absence leaving a glaring hole in the passing game, the hype surrounding Metcalf — and the rest of the wideouts — has been real.
An update on Metcalf's status is exected following his surgery later in the week.
