On Monday, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said on his weekly KIRO-AM radio show that Metcalf suffered a patellar injury and will not need surgery.
The Seattle Times reporter Bob Condotta added that the team is unsure how long Metcalf will be sidelined.
The update is encouraging news for the surging Seahawks. The franchise sits at 4-3 overall and atop the NFC West division. Initial reports also revealed that Metcalf's X-ray results were negative.
Metcalf is off to a good start this season. He has 31 receptions for 418 yards and two touchdowns in seven games. The Seahawks turned to fellow receivers Tyler Lockett and Marquise Goodwin after the injury.
Goodwin hauled in four receptions for 67 yards and scored two touchdowns. Lockett had seven catches for 45 yards.
The Seahawks will play the New York Giants in Week 8. The Giants are 6-1 and will be a tough test for the organization.
