Seahawks releasing wide receiver Tyler Lockett after 10 seasons

The Seattle Seahawks are parting ways with wide receiver Tyler Lockett after 10 seasons.
Lockett, who will enter his age-33 season in 2025, announced his departure from the team with a social media post on Wednesday.
"I really enjoyed being in Seattle!" he wrote. "I met so many great people and captured so many great memories! The 12’s really make this place meaningful! Although, my time on the Seahawks may have run its course I’m thankful for everything!! God gets all the glory forever!!!!"
Seattle originally drafted Lockett in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft. As a rookie, the Kansas State product was a first-team All-Pro kick returner, and over the next decade he became a key piece in the Seahawks' passing offense.
In 10 years with Seattle, Lockett caught 661 passes for 8,594 yards and 61 touchdowns.
In 2020, Lockett became the first receiver in Seahawks history to catch 100 passes in a single season. It's a mark that still stands as the franchise record, though Jaxon Smith-Njigba tied it – albeit in 17 games – in 2024.
Lockett was owed $17 million in 2025, the final year of a four-year contract extension he signed in 2021. Of that $17 million, $5.3 million was due March 16 as a roster bonus. Instead, the Seahawks have opted to let the veteran wideout test the free agent waters one year early after 10 seasons on the roster.
Now, the 10-year veteran will join a group of pending free agent wide receivers that already includes Davante Adams, Chris Godwin and Amari Cooper.
