DK Metcalf next team odds: Chargers, Patriots among favorites to land WR
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf requested a trade from the team on Wednesday, and Seattle has started the process of seeking out trade partners.
The 2019 second-round pick is entering the final season of a three-year, $72 million contract extension he signed before the 2022 season. Seattle would save $10.9 million in cap space by trading Metcalf, but the team would still be on the hook for $21 million in dead cap.
Metcalf, 27, could be the second receiver to leave the Seahawks early this offseason after the team released fellow wideout Tyler Lockett on Wednesday. Third-year receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba would be the top pass-catching option for quarterback Geno Smith should Metcalf join Lockett in his departure.
Metcalf finished the 2024 season with 66 catches for 992 yards and five touchdowns. The Ole Miss product is also the Seahawks' franchise record-holder for most receiving yards in a single season after tallying 1,303 in 2020.
