Pouncey has thumb surgery

Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey has undergone right thumb surgery, but the team isn't ruling him out yet for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Pouncey would have the opportunity to practice later in the week.

Pittsburgh's offense is trying to bounce back after a 21-14 loss to the Balitmore Ravens in which it had just two first downs through the first three quarters.

Dolphins part with CB Benwikere

The Miami Dolphins have waived cornerback Bené Benwikere after claiming him in October.

Benwikere began the season with the Carolina Panthers but was waived after struggling against wider receiver Julio Jones and the Atlanta Falcons in a loss.
