Steelers WR Martavis Bryant applies for reinstatement

It won’t help the Pittsburgh Steelers in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game, but receiver Martavis Bryant continues to take steps in hopes of returning in 2017.
Bryant applied last week for reinstatement from his banishment for repeat violations of the NFL’s substance abuse policy, a person with knowledge of the situation told Paste BN Sports on Tuesday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will make the decision on reinstatement, which for Bryant could come as soon as March. But there is no firm timeline, as Cleveland Browns receiver Josh Gordon, Oakland Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith and others have found out.
Bryant, 25, has 76 catches for 1,314 yards and 14 touchdown catches in 21 NFL games over two seasons. He was suspended in March for at least one year.
