We are all watching Kenny Pickett’s initiation into the NFL this season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pickett’s first four starts in the league have been anything but spectacular but we all acknowledge this is a work in progress.

But former Steelers safety and current ESPN NFL analyst Ryan Clark says the team must at least consider drafting a quarterback in the first round in the 2023 NFL draft.

This sort of opinion is sure to rile up the Steelers fanbase but Clark’s reasoning makes sense.

The Steelers are on pace to draft very high in the first round and this upcoming quarterback class is exceptional. Far better than the 2022 class. The Steelers coaches and scouts graded out Pickett high enough to warrant using the No. 20 overall pick on him.

But what if those same scouts and coaches grade out a guy like Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud higher? Do you simply not draft them because of what Pickett may or may not be?
