What colleges have the most players in Super Bowl 59? Georgia, Oklahoma lead way on Chiefs, Eagles

On Sunday at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, the NFL champion for the 2024 season will be crowned when the Kansas City Chiefs face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.
For each of the players who will take the field Sunday, their path to the biggest stage in their sport was a long and hard-earned one. For all but one of those players — Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata, a native Australian — that journey involved a stop at college.
Years before these players were helping lead their teams to the precipice of a championship, they were standouts at the college level, introducing themselves to large portions of the country before ever logging an NFL snap.
While college football’s national championship was decided three weeks ago with Ohio State’s win over Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff title game, there are still college-related angles to the biggest game on the football calendar.
What college, for example, has the most former players between the Chiefs and Eagles rosters? Here’s a look at what the most-represented schools will be at Super Bowl 59:
What colleges have the most players in the Super Bowl?
In all, there are players from 71 different colleges between the rosters of the Chiefs and Eagles.
There are alums of many of the sport’s most famous, decorated programs, the Alabamas and Oklahomas of the world. There’s also representation from smaller schools, like Houston Christian, Holy Cross, Valdosta State, Fayetteville State and Colorado State Pueblo. Many of those schools punch above their metaphorical weight. There will be as many players in the Super Bowl from Missouri S&T (one) as there will be from Ohio State.
For this exercise, practice squad players were not counted as part of the teams. In the age of increased player movement at the college level, a player is assigned the school where they finished their college career. So while Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts spent his first three seasons at Alabama and maintains a close association with the Crimson Tide, he is counted as an Oklahoma product given that he played his senior season for the Sooners.
