DeAndre Hopkins landed a sizable contract extension before the start of the new season.
The wide receiver agreed to a five-year, $81 million extension with the Houston Texans on Thursday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported. The deal also includes $49 million guaranteed, the highest figure for any player at Hopkins' position, per Schefter.
Hopkins, 25, was entering the final year of his deal after the Texans picked up his fifth-year option. He was set to make $7.915 million in 2017.
A first-round pick out of Clemson in 2013, Hopkins has led the Texans in receiving in each of the last three seasons. But his 78 catches, 954 receiving yards and four touchdowns last year were his lowest totals since his rookie campaign.
