Titans reach deals with Morgan, Orakpo

The Titans hit the daily double on Friday morning, agreeing to terms with outside linebackers Derrick Morgan and Brian Orakpo, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Morgan, who played the past five seasons with the Titans, reached a four-year, $30 million deal with the team, per sources. The base value of the deal is $27 million, but Morgan can make $3 million more through incentives. The deal includes $10.5 million in guaranteed money.

The deal for Orakpo is also four years, and worth roughly $32 million, per sources.

Orakpo, a six-year veteran, had 40 career sacks with the Redskins, including 10 sacks in 2013. He had a career-high 11 sacks during his rookie season in 2009. He's a three-time Pro Bowler who was a first round pick by the Redskins in 2009.

He was college teammates at Texas with Titans safety Michael Griffin.

Orakpo has also battled injuries during his career, however.

Orakpo missed the final nine games of the 2014 season after suffering a pectoral injury in a game against the Titans, and was placed on Injured Reserve. He suffered two torn pectoral muscles on his left side earlier in his career.

Orakpo made $11.455 million under the franchise tag last year. Washington's 2009 first-round draft pick has started 71 games in his career.

Morgan visited the Falcons and Buccaneers in free agency, and also attracted interest from the Cowboys. He posted a team high 6.5 sacks last season, and has been a productive player since being a first round draft pick by the team in 2010.

Heading into free agency, the Titans had hoped to land two edge rushers to change the look of their defense. They got two. It's a big development for a team looking to rebound from a 2-14 season, and change the tone of conversations in Nashville.
