Christion Abercrombie joining Tennessee Titans training camp staff as intern

Former Tennessee State linebacker Christion Abercrombie, who survived a life-threatening brain injury in 2018, is one of several staff additions made by the Tennessee Titans for training camp.

Abercrombie will serve as a strength and conditioning intern for the team during camp. A 2021 graduate of TSU, Abercrombie was left in critical condition after sustaining a head injury against Vanderbilt in 2018.

He was rushed off the field during the game and underwent emergency brain surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he spent 18 days.

Abercrombie, who completed his outpatient rehabilitation in March 2019, announced the Titans' fifth-round pick during the 2019 NFL draft, which was held in Nashville. He also accepted coach Mike Vrabel's invitation to attend a New England Patriots' practice in Atlanta before Super Bowl LIII.

The Titans also have four coaches joining the staff for training camp as part of the NFL's Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship:

  • Northern Arizona wide receiver coach Junior Taylor
  • Virginia cornerbacks coach and special teams coordinator Ricky Brumfield
  • La Verne offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Miguel Reveles
  • Florida State defensive analyst Clint McMillan
