Vikings rookie Sharrif Floyd has no major knee damage
An MRI on Sharrif Floyd's left knee on Sunday showed no ligament damage, and the Minnesota Vikings' top draft pick should return to action soon, a person with knowledge of the examination told Paste BN Sports.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team hadn't released the results.
Floyd, the No. 23 overall pick out of Florida, was injured in the second quarter of Friday's exhibition opener when Houston Texans tackle Andrew Gardner blocked him low.
The Vikings had no plans to put Floyd through tests as of Saturday afternoon. But coach Leslie Frazier told reporters Floyd was sorer by Sunday morning than he'd been after the game.
"Not overly concerned by everything I have been told," Frazier said Sunday morning, before the exam. "It's just sore, so we want to err on the side of caution."
Floyd didn't participate in either practice but told news reporters following the afternoon session there's "nothing wrong" and he would return once cleared by the Vikings' medical staff.
In other Vikings injury news, cornerback Xavier Rhodes (hamstring) and linebacker Desmond Bishop (groin), returned to practice on Sunday. Backup cornerback Jacob Lacey was scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery on one of his knees and could miss two to four weeks.
