Vikings' Peterson misses practice for personal reasons

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson missed practice for personal reasons Wednesday, and coach Leslie Frazier said he should be back Thursday.

Peterson's 2-year-old son, Tyrese Robert Doohen, died Friday as a result of alleged abuse.

The boyfriend of the boy's mother, 27-year-old Joey Patterson, has been charged with aggravated assault on an infant and aggravated assault. He remains in jail on a $750,000 cash bond.

Peterson was in Sioux Falls last week but returned to practice Friday and played in Sunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers.

On Tuesday, Lincoln County (S.D.) State's Attorney Tom Wollman said he does not expect to file new charges in the case until the investigation is complete, perhaps early next week.

Sioux Falls police have said that Patterson recently started a relationship with the mother of the victim. Patterson has a prior domestic abuse record with a different woman and child, having pleaded guilty to simple assault in an incident last year involving an adult female and a juvenile male.
