The Minnesota Vikings were driving down 24-14 to the Detroit Lions Sunday when they gave the ball to Dalvin Cook on a zone run. Unfortunately, that run ended poorly as Cook ran into left guard Ezra Cleveland and he fumbled the ball to the Lions.

This halted the Vikings offensive momentum as they were into Lions territory trying to cut the deficit to a one score game. Cook injured his shoulder on the play, which contributed to the fumble.

Upon coming off the field, Cook was ushered immediately into the blue medical tent to look at the injured shoulder. He was ruled out within minutes.

Cook finished the day with 17 carries for 96 yards, enough to put him in the record books as the fifth Vikings running back with 5,000 career rushing yards.

Head coach Kevin O'Connell said after the game that Cook is "day-to-day" and team doctors will evaluate if he can play next Sunday against the New Orleans Saints in London.

"We'll run some tests, we should have some time to hopefully get him turned over," O'Connell said. "He's already told me, after we scored, I asked him how he was doing. He said, 'I'll be out there next week.' Now, we'll do what's best for obviously Dalvin. ... But what a competitor."

This is the same shoulder that has given Cook a lot of issues throughout his time with the Vikings and even dates back to his time with Florida State in his college days.

With Cook out, that leaves the Vikings with Alexander Mattison and Kene Nwangwu as the only healthy tailbacks on the active roster. Mattison filled in for Cook for the rest of the game and finished with seven carries for 28 yards and a touchdown.

The Vikings ended up winning the game 28-24.
