After finishing the season with the NFL's 31st-ranked defense, Minnesota Vikings first-year head coach Kevin O'Connell decided to make a change to his coaching staff.
Vikings defensive coordinator Ed Donatell was relieved of his duties Thursday afternoon, according to a team press release.
The Vikings, who won the NFC North this season, will likely immediately begin an immediate search for a new defensive coordinator. The team boasts impressive offensive weapons such as Justin Jefferson and Dalvin Cook, but Minnesota's defense was its downfall in 2022.
Minnesota lost in the first round of the NFC playoffs last weekend, falling to the New York Giants on wild-card weekend.
