Oilers trade goalie Jason LaBarbera to Blackhawks
EDMONTON (AP) — The Edmonton Oilers traded goalie Jason LaBarbera to the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday for future considerations.
LaBarbera will be assigned to the American Hockey League's Rockford (Ill.) IceHogs.
He was available because goaltender Ilya Brygalov was activated after recovering from his concussion-like symptoms.
The Blackhawks, meanwhile, have two of their minor league goalies up in the NHL because of injuries to Corey Crawford and Nikolai Khabibulin.
LaBarbera, 33, appeared in seven games this season with Edmonton, going 1-3-0 with a 3.28 goals-against average. He also was 0-1-1 with a 1.93 GAA in two games for Oklahoma City in the AHL.
LaBarbera has played 182 NHL games with the New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks, Phoenix Coyotes and Edmonton. He has a 60-73-19 career record with six shutouts and a 2.86 GAA.
He signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Oilers during the summer.
