Blues game escalator fall victim was 34 years old

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A St. Louis Blues fan who died in a fall from a Scottrade Center escalator has been identified as a 34-year-old woman.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/Z1nVT2 ) reports that Melissa "Missy" Miles fell Thursday night at a Blues preseason hockey game against the Minnesota Wild. Miles was pronounced dead at St. Louis University Hospital.

Police said the homicide unit was notified but that the fall appeared to be an accident.

Friends said that on the way down the escalator, Miles was smiling when she hiked a leg over the rail and straddled it as if she was going to slide down. She then tumbled to the ground. The group of friends initially though the mother of two was joking when she attempted to slide.
