Ducks' Corey Perry leaves game with knee injury

Anaheim Ducks star Corey Perry left Friday's game with a knee injury after he was hip checked.

Perry was skating down the right side during the first period when Minnesota Wild defenseman Keith Ballard backed into him with a hip check, a move for which he is known. He wasn't penalized.

Perry flipped over Ballard and was grabbing his left knee as he got up. He was helped off the ice, unable to put weight on his left leg.

"I saw him coming, but I had nowhere to go," Perry told reporters on Saturday. "He just got me in an awkward position."

Anaheim's Nate Thompson fought Ballard later.

Perry is continuing on the Ducks' trip and he'll be re-evaluated when the team returns.

"I don't think it's anything too serious," he said.

Perry leads the Ducks with 14 goals and ranks second on the team with 22 points.

He had missed five games earlier this season with the mumps.
